AboutPeanuts.com represents the three states that comprise the Virginia Carolinas Peanut growing region. Peanuts come in four different market types, including the Virginia type. The majority of Virginia type peanuts are produced in our region of the United States.
While each of our states has independent associations and boards to represent local growers, we do collaborate on a variety of initiatives including this site. On behalf of our growers, the purpose of this site is to promote and provide education about peanuts from our region.

"The Virginia Peanut Story" tells the rise and fall of the dominance of the Virginia/Carolina peanut industry. Aided by returning Union soldiers after the Civil War, railroads and tariffs, the peanut helped give rise to the golden age of agriculture.
